William and Priscilla Mitten founded The Windsor Press in the basement of their home in 1958. With the aid of a small A.B. Dick offset duplicator, a typewriter, folder, collator and a small headline machine, the Hamburg Shopping Center Guide, with a circulation of 5,000 copies, was born.
In 1960, a second shopping guide was published in the Kutztown Area with a circulation of 8,000 copies.
As the business grew, the Mitten’s purchased an old beer distributing building in historic downtown Hamburg in 1968 and moved out of their basement
Over the years, customer demand led to the addition of commercial printing and outside advertising design services.
On March 24, 2009 a fire devastated Hamburg and Our Company. Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, our team stuck together and did not miss an issue. For photos of the fire and our rebuilding process, click on the fire button.
As technology progressed, outdated equipment was replaced with a full line of Macintosh computers, graphics software, digital printing and web offset capabilities.
